Helen Kaye set to explore at Presidency and the Press Program
Helen Kaye, a junior at Annapolis High School, is excited to explore
journalism as a very probable career choice here at the Franklin Pierce
Presidency and the Press Conference. She was first introduced to this program
by a guidance counselor at her school, as she has been showing great interest
in the field of public communication. Kaye is experienced in student government
and she served as vice-president of her eighth grade class. She has remained
involved in student governing ever since.
Writing is one of Kaye’s
greatest strong suits, but she would prefer to work in news broadcasting. She
says she is “on the fence” about whether or not she would like to work behind
or in front of the camera, but hopes to find her niche through the program.
Kaye could most definitely be
classified as an ‘out-doorsy’ type, as she enjoys sailing, camping and hiking.
She is very interested in traveling and was even considering a career in
environmental film for a short time.
Kaye admits that it is “a little
intimidating” coming together and meeting all these kids through the program
that have the same interests and goals, but she definitely has a lot to bring
to the table from her student government experience and open-minded intelligence.
