Presidency and the Press
Former Senator Rick Santorum was not expecting twenty-eight students equipped with cameras and questions to show up at his campaign headquarters in Manchester, New Hampshire, but was open to answering them.
Student reporters representing The Presidency and the Press from Franklin Pierce were not intimidated by the professional journalists while interviewing former Santorum at his New Hampshire headquarters today.
The reporters arrived equipped with video cameras, microphones and cameras ready in ask Santorum their questions. Many of the students asked him questions with topics including his stance on abortion, the possible entrance of Rick Perry into the presidential race and his loss in the last senatorial election.
Many other people were there to photograph and talk with Santorum, but this did not distract the prepared student reporters.
Santorum started the press conference off by discussing how although he may be low on the polls, the process is like building a house. “We’re building a solid foundation…all of the foundational work that’s going to result in a strong house,” said Santorum.
Santorum also referred to his campaign as “the little engine that could.
“There is a lot of shiny engines that are going to come by and people are going to go ohh and ahh and we’re just going to hook up the cars to the engine and we’re just chugging along,” said Santorum.
Most of the student reporters got their questions in and Santorum was able to reach out to the students and answer them with thought.
