New Hampshire State Director for Senator Kelly Ayotte, Bud Fitch, had much to say to the students attending the Presidency and the Press Conference on July 19, 2011.
Fitch mentioned that in his position, the media is used every day. This can include press releases, town hall meetings, and interviews. “It is important to try very hard to keep everyone interested and informed,” said Fitch.
One of the main ideas brought up was constituent service, services for a voting member of a community. The services can include help with mortgages, Social Security, and veteran benefits. According to Fitch, any person in need of service will be treated equally and no person will receive special treatment, “even if they have a ‘friend’.” Fitch called the process “very controlled,” in which the department makes sure things receive appropriate attention.
Fitch compared the position as “somewhat of a dating service,” because they must be the experts on where the required resources are. He also remarked, “We are the ears for the Senator.”
Fitch also mentioned his previous involvement with election law enforcement. This enforcement makes sure that everyone who is qualified has equal ability to vote. The main goal is to protect and defend the right to vote.
Concluding this very informative presentation was a question posed at Fitch about the drawbacks of his position. He did not believe that any true drawbacks exist; however, he said in order for success many resources, voters, and informed workers are required.
