One question for all

Presidency and the Press
Throughout all of the different speakers one question was applicable to all of them.
This question was, “If you could have been on the campaign for one politician in history who would it be?”
Paul Collins said that he would have either been on the campaign for the Nixon vs. Goldwater or on former President Ronald Reagan’s campaign. He expressed that President Richard Nixons campaign was a comeback campaign and that regardless what anyone thinks of him he lost many races prior to the presidential one and he was able to push through and win that one.
Collins’s partner in the upcoming Huntsman campaign Brad Blais said he would have wanted to campaign for Reagan as well.
Jason McBride, the New Hampshire campaign manager for Mitt Romney, said he would have liked to be a part of the Jefferson vs. Adams campaign.
Derek Scalia, who worked as Dennis Kucinich’s Northeast Regional Field Director in his 2008 campaign, said he would have liked to have been on Eugene Debs’ campaign. “[I] love the fact that when people are wanting to protest… you get a glimpse of what’s truly at their core. Now you see I’m a flaming liberal, who would say Eugene Debs,” Scalia said with a laugh. Scalia also said he would have liked to campaign for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Jacob Avery of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee Field Director responded that he would have liked to campaign in the Jefferson and Adams election.
When interviewing former White House Press Secretary Marlin Fitzwater the question was slightly altered. Instead of asking which campaign he would have liked to wok on the question was “If you could have been the Press Security for and President who would it have been?” Fitzwater responded with several Presidents including President John F. Kennedy, President Thomas Jefferson, and President Reagan whom he was Press Secretary for. When mentioning Jefferson, Fitzwater said, “Well it would have been hard to work for Jefferson because he was so smart. He would have just said who is this fat kid in the corner.”
