Hanna Lundgren fights summer snoozing to build writing skills

Senior Hanna Lundgren of Londonderry defeated the stereotype about students forgetting their education over the summer. As fashion and beauty editor of the Lancer Spirit next year, Lundgren wanted to strengthen her skills in journalism.
According to Lundgren, she looked into joining a summer journalism program at American University. At the sight of the price tag, it seemed that she was not going to be able to practice journalism this summer.
Then an opportunity arose: an invitation to the Presidency and the Press program at Franklin Pierce University. Lundgren leaped at the chance.
“It was something I had to take advantage of,” Lundgren said.
Lundgren said she loves meeting new friends with similar interests and doing fun things, such as meeting Marlin Fitzwater and going to the Red Arrow Diner, a popular spot for politicians during the primary.
“[Fitzwater] is the coolest guy ever, I love how down-to-earth he is,” Lundgren said.
But mostly, Lundgren said, learning the skills to be a better journalist is what she likes the most.
“I want to grow as a journalist, [this program] immerses you in politics and journalism other than a school paper,” said Lundgren.
